Life Drawing- The expression of old men.

These were made in fall of 2009. Charcoal on paper. 11"x18". I remember Corney (teacher) telling me to understand what I see and to take my time to find the expression. The expression I imagine for this man is an empty beer bottle. Oh the frustration!

Visual Development

These two drawings are personal and odd. I basically took three pictures and combine them to make a new character. So basically, the model was super skinny, almost sickly. I used that plus my reference pictures made the above images.

If you look at the top image and think Robo-Cop you would be correct. I tried my best to use the unique texture of Robo-Cop while tweaking the form. Dated 2008.

Color script

This is a color script study I made of an old animation by Don Bluth . Pastel on paper. Dated November 2008.

Cyber Dog!

These are from a design I created while I was taking Rick Maki's class. The Man loved two things: Baseball and Design. Cyber-dog is a scout unit. I was thinking German Shepard meets Robo Cop. The piece was painted in water color on paper. Dated 2008.

Character Animation 2010 demo reel

Eddie Moreno - 2010 animation reel from Eddie Moreno on Vimeo.

I recently showed my reel to a few friends and they suggested music and to put pacing to it. I am taken back by how much music can affect the mood. Anyway this reel is made up of my films from the last two years. If you enjoy it or have any comments please let me know.

Fine art- June 2010

These three drawings have certain points about them. I picked them out of hundreds.

This is one part of a four part picture. I picked this piece because it's focus is what I want to bring to attention. With drawing, comes technique and with this drawing I noticed the surface lines form the skull.

These drawings I particularly like. They are not polished but the soul of the person is in there to be seen. If you draw details first you run the chance of missing the action. If that happen you have just a drawing instead of a living, breathing person

I know a lot of artist who hate drawings of feet but feet are one of the hardest things to draw. It becomes overwhelming when you want to put character into a foot. These feet alone show so much character. enjoy!

Quick gestures to the local veggie store.

The travels to the store are full of opportunity. I tried my best to draw these following drawings as quickly and clearly possible. I tried to feel what I am looking at so I can draw the truth of what I see. Enjoy.

Layouts-Dusk

I used books of the Dogon people as reference for these establishing shots. In these books, the oranges, gold, and brown melt together to make a very warm colors. Very Vibrant.

These are layouts from my recent film. The pan to reveal the desert and the heat took me two days to plan and two weeks to paint. These images are digital paintings but I tried to use the medium like a pastel drawing.

Early color script- Dusk

This is the early color script to Dusk- The image includes scenes both deleted and not created yet. The color is basically the same. I tried to capture the warmth of the desert. The biggest challenge is whether the characters will silhouette properly. I thank Pat Harpin for a good idea of making the characters purple. :)

International D poster

Darrel Watson is the man. Complete with gravitas and prestige to take a princess of Arabia away. A fun poster to create for a movie that should be made at any moment! Water color on paper, with India Ink. 2009

I came, I saw, I conquered

When Ceasar returned to Rome around 50 BCE. He was both a hero of the people and a villain to the senate. Whether this is true or not is moot. What is real is this man killed many, hands dirty with blood of others and came back with a heros reception. Enough pseudo history, this is another water color.

Water color Painting-2009

The story I came up with this is a robot destroys all society to the brink. In the mist of the chaos it runs out of energy and becomes a huge monolith. Though this monolith is not made of Stone, still the idea humans build a home on its destroyer. A paradox that I can see happening. The "black balloons" are really trash hurled from Trebuchets build on the robot.

Portfolio

Fine art? Let you decide...

This is a small sample of my portfolio. These were taken out of my artbooks arranging sizes from 11"x18" to 4"x6". I tried my best to catalog my pieces and to give them a title.

The image on the left was done while Corny Cole III of Calarts was still reachable. I still think he is doing fine

When I was in San Diego, CA I painted these images. They can be found in this notebook I made.

The Beach head in La Jolla during overcast can make for some insightful scenes.

These are quick 10 sec sketches of my cube and work area. To talk about those times in the past tense of scary/ calming.
